Reset Minds Therapies

When you’re living with anxiety, the impact of trauma, or ongoing stress from work or school, life can start to feel overwhelming and exhausting.

You may find yourself constantly on edge, struggling to switch off, or feeling affected by past experiences that continue to show up in the present — even when you’re doing your best to cope. For some  people, this can show up as emotional distress, anxiety, changes in behaviour, or difficulties managing everyday pressures.

I offer a confidential, supportive space to help both adults and adolescents make sense of what’s been happening, reduce distress, and begin to move forward in a way that feels manageable and meaningful. I work with adults and adolescents experiencing anxiety disorders, trauma, and work- or school-related stress or burnout, using evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). EMDR can be particularly helpful when difficult experiences continue to have an impact, even when things are understood logically but still feel stuck.

About Me

Hi, my name is Bongi

I am a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist, EMDR Therapist, and a Registered Mental Health Nurse, with over 15 years’ experience supporting people with their mental health across NHS and private healthcare settings.

I began my career as a mental health nurse, working with both children and adults, and qualified as a CBT Psychotherapist in 2017. Over the years, I’ve supported people experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety disorders, trauma, and the impact of ongoing stress or burnout. This background allows me to bring a calm, grounded, and compassionate approach to my work, even when people are feeling overwhelmed or stuck.
At the heart of my work is a person-centred approach. I believe therapy works best when we take time to understand you as an individual — your experiences, your strengths, and the challenges you’re facing — and use this shared understanding to guide the therapeutic process. My aim is to support you in making sense of what’s been happening, reducing distress, and developing ways of coping that feel helpful and sustainable for you.

I offer a supportive and non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours at your own pace. Together, we can work towards breaking unhelpful patterns, gaining insight into what may be holding you back, and building healthier ways of managing difficulties so you can move forward with greater confidence and wellbeing.

What helps therapy work well?

A strong therapeutic relationship is an important part of effective therapy. Feeling safe, understood, and able to be open allows the work we do together to be meaningful and productive. Therapy can sometimes feel challenging, and it often involves reflecting on difficult experiences and practising new ways of coping between sessions.
As your therapist, I will work collaboratively with you, tailoring therapy to your needs, offering guidance and support, and moving at a pace that feels right for you. My role is to provide a consistent, compassionate space and to support you as you work towards positive and lasting change.

Services
Free 30 minute telephone consultation

I offer a free 30 minute consultation to discuss the difficulties you are experiencing, talk about the goals that you would like to achieve in therapy and to discuss whether I am the right person for you.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

CBT is an evidence based therapy that is effective for treating a wide range of mental and physical health issues. It focuses on the links between our thoughts, our feelings and our actions, recognising unhelpful patterns that can affect your mental health negatively. We would work together to understand the unhelpful cycles you get stuck in, and help you change these to develop healthier and helpful cycles.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy

EMDR is a psychotherapy that allows you to access and reprocess negative memories and beliefs. It is designed to treat PTSD and other traumas you may have experienced at different times in your life, that are affecting you at present in order to reduce psychological distress.

Narrative Exposure Therapy

NET is a short term psychotherapy designed to treat survivors of multiple and complex trauma. It focuses on exposure to traumatic events and reprocessing negative thoughts and beliefs generated by the trauma.

CBT Based Coaching

I often view the principles of CBT as a useful tool that anyone could benefit from to make positive changes outside of struggling with mental distress. You may want to make changes or reach specific goals that you are struggling with. This approach uses CBT principles and gives you the tools to work towards achieving your specific goals and needs.

Testimonials
I was put into contact with Bongi by a friend after realising I was having difficulties with my mood and how I was feeling. Bongi very quickly got back to me and instantly made me feel comfortable about talking to her. I was in what felt like a very heavy mindset and day to day life felt like a bit of a struggle. My anxiety levels were high and I always felt stressed. But after my session with Bongi I feel so much lighter and understand how I feel a lot better. Breaking down the way I felt helped me immensely. I now feel like I am better equipped to deal with my emotions. Bongi also provided me with the means to go back and look at what we have done in sessions which has been (and will continue to be) extremely useful.

“I feel so lucky to have met Bongi! She created a safe space for me to open up and allow myself to be vulnerable after a recent traumatic period. I was feeling anxious, powerless and overwhelmed by what had happened but, through EMDR therapy, Bongi helped me to reprocess some difficult memories and emotions, and reminded me to focus on the things I can control to remain in the present. She also taught me how to become comfortable being uncomfortable, which has helped to reset my nervous system. Bongi has incredible insight and knew very quickly what would be the most appropriate treatment for me. I now feel better equipped to deal with future challenges but I can always reach out to Bongi if I need further support. Thank you for your compassion, patience and reassurance, Bongi - I wouldn’t have got here without you!

"I had an outstanding experience with Bongiwe. From our very first appointment, she took the time to truly listen and understand what I was seeking help with. Her ability to explain things in a way that was both informative and easy to understand made a huge difference for me. Even when I thought I already knew certain things, she helped me see them more clearly and deeply. She is an all-around fantastic psychiatrist. Her support has genuinely helped shape me into someone who understands myself better and as a result, I’m living a much better, more grounded life. I fully believe that therapy is something valuable throughout all stages of life through both the good and the challenging times and I would absolutely choose to see her again. I would recommend her without hesitation. Thank you, Bongiwe for the incredible impact you’ve had on my journey."

This was my first time trying therapy, and Bongi made the whole experience so comfortable and easy. The sessions were well-structured and really helped me get what I needed. I’ve now paused my sessions, but I’d definitely recommend Bongi to anyone, and she’ll be the first I reach out to if I ever need therapy again! text

FAQ's

Evidence based therapy is a therapy that has been studied and tested with clinical research and has evidence showing that the therapy is reliable and effective. Practitioners are trained to deliver evidence-based therapy in line with each individuals’ needs. In the United Kingdom, The National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE) regulates what treatment practitioners should be offering based on the best evidence available. They also keep on top of new research and effectiveness of treatment.

Although the therapies I offer are for individuals, I can also work with parent, carers, partners or significant others around psychoeducation, improving communication and discussing the best way to support you through your journey in therapy. This can be in the form of joint sessions, or meeting with them separately.

To get the most out of therapy, it is important that it happens frequently.Ideally, we would meet on the same day and at the same time each week.  There may be room for flexibility on occasion. Understandably there may be a week where we may not be able to meet, however if we start to have long breaks between sessions or multiple cancellations, we may need to re-evaluate whether this is the right time for you to commit to regular therapy sessions.

The therapy modalities that I offer are short term therapies with our aim towards meeting your therapy goals and ideally, for you to get to a place where you eventually don’t need me. Sessions can range from 5 to 20 sessions depending on your individual needs and the progress you make in therapy. In my experience, sometimes people have needed more, sometimes less. There is no one size fits all. Throughout our sessions, we will review your progress and work together towards reaching your goals.

Absolutely. Anything we discuss in our sessions is kept between us. If there is any information that I think would be helpful to share, for example, with your GP, we would have that discussion first and I would need your consent to do so. There are exceptions however, mainly if there are significant risk concerns to you or to others. Please see our privacy notice for more information.
